McKever Group cites 'economic downturn' for seeking help to save ten hotels from shutting.
I’ve decided to embark on traveling around Canada...
Having a car at your disposal brings additional freedom in exploring the new places that can turn a great holiday into extra useful life experience.
But driving in Britain introduces additional difficulties: it requires some skills to driving on the left side of the road. Here are some life saving tips, gathered through my experience, about driving in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Driving on the left side of the road itself is not as much of the difficulties as it may seem, so don’t let it stop you from renting a car. As soon as you aren’t comfortable driving cars with standard automatic transmission, you’ll get into trouble, because problems with price and availability will occur. Most European cars have standard automatic transmissions because they are cheaper and efficient in stop-and-go. Car rental agencies in the UK most of the times have a limited supply of automatics available and it’s normally cheaper to rent a standard transmission car.
Also keep it in mind to leave more time to get from Point A to Point B than you think there’s necessary. In the US there’s a habit to travelling at high speeds, you can cover 250 miles for 4-5 hours, as soon as in the UK with its winding roads and "roundabouts" you will have to slow your average speed down to 60-80 km/h.
If you can avoid driving in the cities in UK – do it. As the there are a lot of problems with parking, not to say that it’s very expensive. If you start your journey in a city, book your car only when you’re ready to embark on some another destination, and before that use local transportation. In case you’re outside a city get to the nearest railway or subway station. Drive there, park your car, and take the subway or train to the city. This will save much of your nerves and money of course.
Hopefully you are not scared by all is written above. If you’re an experienced driver, renting a car can be useful experience, which will enrich your holidays immensely.
